Lots of exploring, creating, and building literacy and math skills during centers this fall! Everyone loved sand writing letters with "witches fingers" at the writing center. Spider math was a big hit! The children tried to put the correct number of spiders on each plate. The art center was filled with pumpkin and leaf activities. Our new fire station is always busy on the building rug, and all my friends loved working at and visiting the Preschool Apple Orchard! The ABC center had fall words with pictures so the children could practice "reading" each card. This center is helping build vocabulary and begins to teach the concept that letters make words and words have meaning. At the "must do" table last month the children used problem solving skills to build their own apple tree. They were asked to use the materials to create a tree and see how many apples they could balance.
