During small groups last week each child tried to put the letters in their name in the correct order using a model if needed. Next we all took turns looking in the mirror to draw a self portrait. It was amazing to watch different groups of children working together to fit the puzzle blocks together in different ways! These blocks are part of the Get Set For School program we are using this year. After a brief discussion about how these blocks are the same in some ways and different in others, I left the children to their own creativity to build or play however they wanted. These are a few examples of what happened!
At the play dough center we can cut, roll, or stamp letters and numbers. All these activities are building hand strength to get us ready for writing. Last week we used play dough to create faces on placemats. In the science center we have been examining magnets. In the math center we have been sorting bears by color.
